The adornment and the imprint

From the 7th October, and until November 2, the AVM gallery presents an exhibition "La parure et l'empreinte" which brings together works by Nadine Kohn-Fiszel and Alain Delpech. "La parure et l'empreinte" because the exhibition aims to illuminate the meeting point between what each was led to develop, each in his quest. An essential strategy made possible by the artist's symbolic gesture: to observe, confront, transcend the carnal disappearance. From the remains of turtles washed up on a beach in Gambia, which Delpech adorns, by engraving them, with all the power of his imagination, to the "lost bodies" whose imprint Nadine Kohn-Fiszel recreates, everything takes its place in our world, to challenge us, everything in this rediscovered intimacy is destined for rebirth.

Engraver, painter and sculptor, Alain Delpech has been represented by the gallery for many years, which has dedicated several solo exhibitions to him.

For Nadine Kohn-Fiszel, painter and sculptor, who lives and works in Paris, and whose works have already been the subject of numerous exhibitions, both in France and abroad, this is a first presentation at the gallery.

HASLain DELPECH

It is from the heart of matter that Alain Delpech draws the vocabulary of his original, dynamic, and compartmentalized universe. For this artist, whose timeless writing establishes an intimate dialogue between light and construction, the image is a place of silence and meditation. A journey, a mandala, it escapes the current events of the world, preferring to immerse itself among the fundamental mechanisms of evolution.

Sober, subtle, the compositions that are born under his brush or his chisel call upon the notions of presence, distance, networks and reserve.

Monumental and timeless, each of the figures embodied possesses an ethnological, universal dimension. Delpech's work is neither here nor now. It embodies the space of time.

Nadine KOHN-FISZEL

Suspended, heavy, sometimes animated by very slow waves which multiply the movement of the hanging bars, these sheets reflect the gravity of the bodies they evoke.

Prints, negatives of bodies, of trunks without legs, without arms, without heads, without sex or almost.

Body all the same, we recognize the torso, the attachment of a shoulder, the roundness of a hip.

Evoking ancient embalmings, foreign burials, burials without tombs, bodies without graves, blackened, burnt carcasses, the forms respond from work to work, emerging from the sheets, through superimpositions, or penetrating, turning their backs on the spectator, into a flat and supple world, dark and pale, rough and soft.
