Celeste BOLLACK

"I was born in the 70s, in Paris, at a time when everything was easier, happier, and certainly more unusual. I became a painter because I couldn't find another medium as immediate as painting to illustrate a forgotten world, a lost childhood, a fleeting happiness. Putting color on the walls, painting interiors full of patterns, stripes, polka dots, flowers. Everywhere my mother, the homage of a child accident. Painting to exist, painting to fight, painting not to cry."

Céleste BOLLACK

NBorn in 1971 in Paris, Céleste was influenced by her mother Sofi Bollack-Klarwein, herself a painter. It was therefore in a melting pot of intellectual and pictorial influences that Céleste grew up. Colors, brushstrokes, bohemian life in a pretty Parisian neighborhood, and freedom of expression all fed the heart of Céleste, a little girl who was already an extraordinary girl and who drew full time. She entered the Beaux-Arts in 1994, and her first exhibition took place in 1998 at the L'œil du 8 gallery. Her encounter with the gallery owner Georges Detais was decisive for the rest of her career. Part of the Figuration Narrative movement, she exhibited in the French capital as well as in London, Stockholm, and Zurich, winning the enthusiasm of her first collectors and making people talk about her.

About Celeste

Céleste Bollack is an artist, a woman, a friend who, in real life as in her dream studio in gestation, is always full of an endearing arrogance, full of this doubt that makes her demanding, possessed by her work. Obsessive, disconcerting in the expression of her feelings, surprising in her outbursts of friendship, sometimes tyrannical, she nevertheless remains an irreplaceable look on the lookout that nourishes her work as a painter. Work that can boast the same qualifiers as those that define her. She is the body and the work, inseparable.
