FLORENT CHOPIN
There was personal research, especially writing and drawing; then the practice of Dérive, diving into URBEX, exploring multiple universes, meeting the last surrealists. One day, somewhat by chance, I heard about the Félix FENEON Prize, I presented three monumental drawings and I was a winner.
I walk to my studio and I experience it as a blessing. I live in Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine, in the heart of the flea market. It's an environment that has become almost indispensable to me. Even if the flea market is deserted 4 days out of 7. The walk lasts about fifteen minutes. Before leaving, I've already taken in the landscape through the window. Going out, I look for the crow, not far from its nest, the magpies, the white cat that reminds me of distant palaces or eternal snow or old Maharajas, I also look at the foliage, the pink clusters of chestnut trees or the yuzu shoots; I'm now in the street and it's as much a journey as an adventure, of course!
It is not so much inspiration that would determine my orientation in work, but rather necessity; necessity in breathing; breathing with and in the world and feeling it with all one's pores. For me the World, as infinite as it may be, is life, and Life is the world; I feel a scale of equality or the need to seek equality for all things; to reverse the scale of values.
