Since its founding in 1991, the AVM contemporary art gallery has always supported the work of artists who do not submit to the dictates of trends or the market.
With the participation of : ASTRIG FISTER , designer, and SVETLANA SKVORTSOVA , videographer

From April 6 to May 7, the AVM gallery will present an exhibition entitled "Red Carpet Josephine," a series of paintings by Ealy Mays, an American artist who has lived in Paris since the late 1990s and who recently paid a picturesque tribute to Josephine Baker (who has been evoked in his works for many years) by painting Josephine on the red carpet as she made her way through the Parisian streets to the Panthéon, which was reclaimed after her passing.
This clandestine scavenger "performance" was the subject of a remarkable video by Svetlana Skvortsova.
This act and this tribute are very symbolic, because, from the red carpet of the show to that of the honors, the journey of Josephine Baker was made of audacity and courage, and because the one who pays homage to her in this way is an African-American painter, worthy heir to the painters of the Harlem Renaissance, this movement of the interwar period in the 20th century, founder of all African-American culture and which had tremendous repercussions on black consciousness throughout the world.
Nicole Coudert
Also participating in this exhibition will be designer Astrig Fister, author of a console entitled Joséphine, which elegantly and preciously transcribes the artist's grace.
Svetlana Skvotsova's video will be presented and broadcast throughout the exhibition, along with other video clips from episodes of "Ealy Mays Show", Blue Watermelon Production.
